Caernarfon will host the 2028 Urdd National Eisteddfod, organisers have confirmed.
On Monday, organisers announced the Caernarfon area will play host for the first time since 1956, following talks with Cyngor Gwynedd.
The exact site of the Maes has yet to be confirmed, but a site on Bethel Road is being considered.
The 2012 Eisteddfod was held nearby at the Glynllifon estate - but the choice of site led to major traffic problems around the area.
Llio Maddocks, Urdd arts director, said: "We are so excited that Eisteddfod yr Urdd is returning to the Caernarfon area in 2028, where the Welsh language is heard naturally on the street, and which is alive with community and artistic activity."
“The support we have already received from Cyngor Gwyedd and the wider region for hosting the Eisteddfod in Eryri in 2028 has been fantastic."
"A site on Bethel Road, Caernarfon, is being considered, and we look forward to announcing the exact location following further discussions between the Urdd, Gwynedd Council, and local landowners."
“One of the strengths of Eisteddfod yr Urdd is that it travels and becomes an integral part of community life across Wales."
"I am very much looking forward to working with Cyngor Gwynedd, local partners, and the community over the next two years to ensure a memorable festival and valuable experiences for the area’s children and young people."
This year's event is being held less than 30 miles away at the Anglesey Showground at Mona, near Gwalchmai.

The council's deputy leader, Menna Trenholme, said: "We are extremely proud to be able to welcome Eisteddfod yr Urdd to Gwynedd in 2028."
"This is the first time the festival has come to the Arfon area since 2012, and I’m certain the local community will make sure it will be an Eisteddfod to remember for children and young people from all parts of Wales."
"The council has supported the Urdd in identifying possible sites, and we are pleased that they are now announcing that the Caernarfon area will be the home of the festival in just two years’ time."
"There will be a great deal of work to do before then, and I look forward to the buzz of the preparations. The excitement we can feel here in Anglesey this week is an inspiration to us all."
Mared Llewellyn, chair of the executive committee for the 2028 festival, said: "We are delighted that the site for Eisteddfod yr Urdd Eryri 2028 will be in the Caernarfon area. It is full of energy and character, at the heart of the Eryri region."
