Tudur Owen is Sunday's president at the Urdd National Eisteddfod at Mona.
The writer, comedian and broadcaster, originally from Anglesey, said the festival's visit - the first since 2004 - was "a very important event for the island" and spoke of his honour of being named as a president of the day.
"I was an aspiring piano competitor at the Urdd’s Eisteddfodau when I was a child but, to my mother’s great disappointment, I never got further than the regional Eisteddfod", said Tudur.
"Despite this, I’m very proud of my connection with the movement over the years. I took advantage of the opportunities the Urdd offered, especially staying at Glan-llyn on several occasions, and enjoyed every minute of it."
"Later on, while working as an assistant producer on the children’s programme Uned 5, my claim to fame was managing to bring all the activities in the pavilion at the Urdd Eisteddfod in Preseli to a halt after I arranged for a plane to perform an aerobatic display above the field."
"The Eisteddfod’s visit to Ynys Môn this year is a very important event for the island, and I’m extremely proud that it’s going to be held on our Showground, as my family and I have very close connections with this special venue."
"Being chosen as President of the Day is an honour that means a great deal to me, and I’m looking forward to a memorable and very enjoyable day."
Former Wales rugby international George North was the first of the daily presidents on Satuday - with the role being taken up on Bank Holiday Monday by singer and broadcaster Elin Fflur, who is performing at Gwyl Triban tonight.
Newly-elected First Minister, Rhun ap Iorwerth, is Tuesday's president, followed by football coach Osian Roberts on Wednesday, comedienne Kiri-Pritchard-McLean on Thursday and musical director Mari Pritchard on Friday.
