Over a hundred counterfeit toys have been seized from shops in Holyhead.
Trading Standards officers say high demand for 'Labubu' dolls have led to a rise in fake items being sold around the world.
Genuine Labubu products, which are made in China by Pop Mart and are limited edition, can sell for as much as £250.
But on Wednesday, counterfeit Labubu dolls and keyrings were found to be on sale during visits to several shops in Holyhead.
Some fake dolls have been found to be poorly made - with limbs coming off easily, seams ripping apart, misshaped features and removable small parts, such as eyes, hands and feet, which could become a choking hazard.
Other products which were tested were also found to contain harmful dyes and toxic plastics.
Anglesey Council is urging the public to beware of buying Labubu items that are significantly cheaper than the recommended retail price (RRP) and not to let children play with any suspected counterfeit dolls.
Cllr Nicola Roberts, who holds the public protection portfolio, said "Unscrupulous traders are supplying counterfeit versions of the latest craze at lower prices."
"Selling cheap knock off that doesn’t meet UK safety requirements is putting local children at risk and we will not tolerate that. I’m pleased that these items have been seized by our trading standards officers."
The council advises that genuine Labubu dolls come in original branded packaging with security labels and are clearly marked with the UK importer's address. There should be no tape closing the box and genuine products also have a QR code linking to the Pop Mart website.
A spokesperson for Anglesey Trading Standards added: "Any traders who have these counterfeit items in their possession are urged to remove them from sale and return them to their supplier."
