A 31 year-old man has been charged with driving a stolen taxi on the wrong side of the A55.

Darragh O’Grady was arrested on Monday evening after he was stopped on the westbound carriageway near Rhosneigr.

A cyclist was taken to hospital after they were knocked off their bike in the London Road area of Holyhead, where several parked vehicles were damaged.

The vehicle had been allegedly stolen from a Holyhead taxi firm, Tacsi Zoe.

O’Grady, of no fixed abode, but originally from Ireland, is accused of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, aggravated taking of a vehicle, theft and fraud by false representation.

He is due to appear at Caernarfon Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Detectives say there is currently no evidence to suggest the incidents were filmed for uploading on social media.

But a North Wales Police spokesperson added: “This continues to be an active investigation and therefore we urge people not to speculate on the details of the incident or the motivations behind it.”

Anyone with information or any footage should contact North Wales Police on 101 or via the live web chat, quoting reference no. O140476.
