A Bangor man has been jailed following a violent assault on a woman at her home.
Caernarfon Crown Court heard Jamie Cowell breached a restraining order against his victim when he turned up at her address on Anglesey last month.
The 39 year-old admitted charges of assault and causing criminal damage.
Police were called to the woman's home following reports of a disturbance during the early hours of Saturday 8th November.
She was found with facial injuries and significant bleeding and told officers she was in fear for her life after the attack
The court heard Cowell had threatened her and damaged a television, furniture and a mirror.
He was given a 16-month prison sentence and banned from any contact with his victim for 20 years under a domestic abuse protection order.
Following sentencing on Friday, Detective Inspector Trystan Davies of North Wales Police, said: "This was a shocking and distressing incident in which a woman was violently assaulted inside her own home."
"No one should ever feel unsafe in their home, especially at the hands of someone who chooses to use violence and fear."
"We commend the victim for her courage in coming forward and working with investigating officers. We remain fully committed to protecting victims of domestic abuse and bringing perpetrators to justice."
"Anyone experiencing abuse, or concerned for the welfare of someone else, is urged to contact us – we will listen, we will support you and we will act."
