Bangor shoplifter jailed for clothes theft

A prolific shoplifter from Bangor who stole over £200 worth of clothes has been jailed.

Thomas Lloyd (28) pleaded guilty to taking four items from the JD store on the High Street last Thursday morning without paying.

Two days later, Mold magistrates heard he was arrested and charged after the theft was caught on CCTV.

Lloyd had also appeared in court last Monday when he was given a six-week suspended sentence for a previous theft.

Magistrates activated the sentence, meaning he'll serve a total of ten weeks in prison, including four weeks for the JD shop theft.

Sergeant Gemma Rodrigues from North Wales Police said: "We continue to support retail premises and local businesses to tackle retail crime across Gwynedd North."

"We recognise the impact of retail theft not only has on businesses and their staff but also the local community. Our teams will continue to deal with any retail thefts robustly and look to bring offenders to justice as swiftly as possible."

Lloyd was also ordered to pay £200 compensation.
