Police have discovered a cannabis farm at a former clothes store in Bangor city centre.

Officers discovered the 'sophisticated' setup at the old New Look site on the High Street last Tuesday (1st July) as part of the 'Renew Bangor' crackdown.

North Wales Police said they had been tipped off with information that cannabis was being cultivated with lighting, ventilation and enough plants "to start a small forest".

The building had been left vacant since New Look closed its Bangor shop two years ago.

An investigation is continuing and detectives are appealing for anyone with information about any movements, vehicles or people seen entering and leaving the site since April to come forward.

PC Rylance from the 'Clear, Hold, Build' team in Bangor said: "We are dedicated to targeting serious and organised Crime and will continue to target those who are intent on exploiting vulnerable persons and children."

"Anyone with information or concerns should contact us via 101, webchat or Crimestoppers (0800 555 111).”
