Four graduates have joined a new workplace scheme run by Anglesey Council.

The Dyfodol Môn initative, launched earlier this year, allows local gruadates to gain valuable work experience while continuing their studies for a postgraduate qualification.

The first intake of recruits joined the county council on Monday, taking in roles ranging from economic development and accountancy to electrical engineering.

Llio Hughes, one of the successful applicants, said: "I was so happy and grateful to receive the offer, especially as a recent graduate worried about the next steps. This opportunity has given me a strong start, and I look forward to gaining valuable experience and learning in the workplace."

"I believe the council wants its employees to succeed and thrive, and they are committed to offering the support needed to achieve that."

Anglesey Council says the scheme reflects its broader ambitions for a "healthy and prosperous" island as part of its five year plan, which runs until 2028.

Welcoming the new recruits, council leader Gary Pritchard said: "The Dyfodol Môn scheme provides an excellent platform for local people to begin their careers, develop new skills and play an important role in delivering services for our communities."

"Supporting and nurturing young talent is a key part of our vision for Anglesey’s future. The scheme also provides a valuable opportunity for graduates who wish to return to work and live on Anglesey."

As the Island’s largest employer, the County Council believes everyone deserves the chance to develop their skills and prosper in their chosen career.

The council says that as the larger employer on the island, it believes "everyone deserves the chance to develop their skills and propser in their chosen career."

Learning and development manager Elen Pritchard added: "The Dyfodol Môn programme is a great way to invest in the workforce of the future. We’re proud to see four graduates take up these roles and look forward to supporting them as they progress."
