National Eisteddfod organisers have launched a competition for a find a name for next year's event.
South Meirionydd - including Dolgellau, Bala, Tywyn, Aberdyfi and Abermaw - will form part of the official catchment area for the Brifwyl, which will be held in neighbouring north Powys.
Organisers say they are keen to seek a name for the event which reflects the distinctive character of the region, which will create "a sense of pride" among local communities.
Heulwen Davies, deputy chair of the strategic committee for the 2027 Eisteddfod, said: "We are really excited and proud to be welcoming the Eisteddfod to our area next year."
"There is already plenty of enthusiasm and support in the community, with local volunteers developing ideas and organising events."
"One of our priorities now is to find a name that reflects the home of the Eisteddfod, capturing what makes our area and our festival unique. This competition is an opportunity to be a part of Eisteddfod 2027’s history and we welcome suggestions from people where ever they live."
The competition is open to everyone across Wales with the winner receiving a week-long ticket to next year's National Eisteddfod.
To take part, visit the festival's website or email gwyb@eisteddfod.cymru - entries close on 31st March and the winner will be announced on 9th April.
In the meantime, the proclomation festival for the 2027 event will be held in Llanidloes on Saturday 9th May.
