Police are investigating a suspected dog attack on an ewe near Caernarfon Airport.

The pure bred Dutch spotted sheep suffered injuries to its side and hind quarters in fields at Dinas Dinlle on the evening of Sunday 30th August.

Rural crime detectives say the other ewes have since been removed from the fields, which run alongside the beach.

North Wales Police are reminding the public to contact them as soon as possible if a dog escapes in a rural area, allowing them to alert local farmers and landowners.

PCSO Rhys Evans said: "The skin and wool were ripped from the body which would require a great deal force and is likely to have been a large dog."

He added: "We are once again urging dog owners to keep dogs on leads whilst walking in fields where livestock are present as not to cause distress or harm to the animals."

"Anyone who was walking their dog through the fields at the time and has any information is asked to get in touch."

Anyone with information should contact PCSO Evans on 101 or via the live web chat on the North Wales Police website, quoting reference no. 26000720376.
