The FAW have charged an ex-Trearddur Bay footballer with violent conduct following an alleged assault during a match.
Defender Tom Taylor was released by the club after he allegedly elbowed Porthmadog forward Danny Brookwell during an Ardal North West game at Y Traeth earlier this month.
North Wales Police said a 35 year-old man arrested on suspicion of assault was released on conditional bail while they seek advice on charges.
In a statement on Tuesday night, the FAW said Taylor has been suspended from all football-related activity with immediate effect pending the outcome of an investigation.
It means he can not attend or take part in any matches played under the Welsh football governing body's jurasidiction, nor can he take part in any training or carry out any administrative duties.
A spokesperson said: "The FAW acknowledges the proactive actions of Trearddur Bay following the alleged incident and their willingness to actively engage in the disciplinary process."
Thomas has been given until 5pm on Wednesday 4th February to respond to the charge, under FAW Rule 39.6.
Earlier, the club said it "does not condone violence in any form and acknowledges that the incident should not have occurred."
"The club offers its sincere apologies to the opposition player involved, CPD Porthmadog, match officials, supporters, and the wider football community."
"The club will fully cooperate with any external investigations or disciplinary processes and will make no further comment at this time while these matters are ongoing."
Two league matches were also postponed with the club preparing for their Welsh Cup quarter final
Porthmadog FC said its winger Danny Brookwell was recovering at home after being treated for concussion.
