Three cultural centres across Anglesey and Gwynedd have secured Welsh Government funding.

The Holyhead Maritime Museum, Caernarfon Library and the Lloyd George Museum in Llanystumdwy are among 31 projects across Wales that will recieve a share of £5.2 million to improve access, modernise facilities and fund collections.

In Holyhead, funding will be spent on installing new equipment - including display cases, security and heating systems - to protect important historical artefacts from the town, along with repairs to the building and new educational inittiatives.

£150,000 will go towards preserving Highgate, the childhood home of former UK prime minister David Lloyd George, which is due to reopen to the public next Spring.

Money has also been set aside to improve the visitor experience at the Lloyd George Museum and preserving its collections.

Caernarfon Library gets £500,000 to modernise its facilities, including a new glass front foyer, an outdoor area and a purpose-built children's area, along with a community centre facility and more self-service machines.

The project will also see physical improvements to the building that will support environmental sustainability by cutting carbon emissions and operating costs.

Cllr Medwyn Hughes, cabinet member for the economy at Cyngor Gwynedd, said: "I very much welcome this cultural investment by the Welsh Government into both locations."
