A popular family theme park in Y Felinheli has been put up for sale.

Greenwood (Gelli Gyffwrdd), which attracts over 110,000 visitors a year, has been put on the market for £1.25 million.

Continuum Attractions says it has invested £1.5 million since taking over the eco-friendly attraction on the edge of the Eryri national park in 2017.

Andrew Pawson, chief executive of Continuum, said: "GreenWood Family Park has been a hugely valued part of our portfolio since 2017 and we are incredibly proud of the role we have played in its continued growth and success."

"Through significant investment, we have enhanced its unique offer, ensuring it remains a much-loved destination for families seeking adventure, discovery and time together."

"We can confirm that GreenWood Family Park is now being marketed for sale and we would welcome the opportunity to speak to interested parties."

"We believe this is the right time to find a new owner as we refine our portfolio and seek an operator who can take the park into its next chapter, building on its fantastic foundations."

"Most importantly, the park continues to operate as normal. We remain fully committed to supporting our brilliant team and to welcoming guests for what promises to be another busy summer season and beyond."

First opened in 1991, GreenWood includes 15 themed rides and attractions including the world's first people-powered rollercoaster, the Green Dragon, and the Solar Splash, along with a range of adventure and nature-themed activities and accommodation in the form of a Tipi Glamping village.

The 34-acre site also includes indoor soft play, a cafe and other catering facilities throughout the park, along with car and coach parking with over 680 spaces.

Two years ago, it was named among the Top 10 Parks in the UK by TimeOut, alongside the likes of Alton Towers, Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Legoland Windsor.

The current owners say the site offers a "great opportunity to enhance revenue in developing complementary activities and facilities".

Market agent Richard Baldwin, director of Stripe Leisure, added: "Attractions like GreenWood are rare."

"It ticks lots of boxes from both a sustainability and educational point of view, offers a purchaser a great opportunity to build on an existing reputation and is set in a stunning location."

"We are confident that someone, somewhere will fall in love with it and cherish it for future generations of families to enjoy."
