A Holyhead man has become the first in North Wales to be jailed after he flouted a domestic abuse protection order (DAPO).
Last month, Tom Webster was banned from approaching or communicating with his former partner and being within 100m of her home for three months.
But last Sunday, the 41 year-old from Victoria Terrace was spotted with his ex-partner in Holyhead.
Webster was arrested on the same day and sentenced to a year in prison.
North Wales Police joined the DAPO pilot scheme in April - it is a legal injunction designed to protect victims from all forms of domestic abuse, such as controlling & coercive behaviour and non-physical abuse.
A breach of the protection order is considered a criminal offence.
Sergeant Chris Burrow from North Wales Police said: "We will continue to apply for DAPOs going forwards where appropriate to protect victims from further harm."
"Webster’s disregard for the court order imposed shows his disrespect for the justice system and I hope he reflects on this behaviour. We will not tolerate any form of domestic abuse and will fully support anyone who is experiences abuse."
