Police are investigating unconfirmed reports of one person carrying an axe in the Kingsland area of Holyhead.
Two local primary schools - Ysgol Morswyn and Ysgol Kingsland - were put into lockdown on Monday morning as a precuationary measure, but it has since been lifted.
Detectives say searches are continuing in the area but they've received no reports of any threats being made against the public.
District Inspector Wayne Francis of North Wales Police said: "There continues to be a visible police presence in Holyhead this afternoon for reassurance purposes."
"I would emphasise that no reports of any threats against members of the public have been made to us."
Anglesey Council confirmed that two schools were placed into a precautionary lockdown "for a very short period" at the request of police following "a specific concern in the local area".
A spokesperson said both Ysgol Morswyn and Ysgol Kingsland both reopened and resumed normal operations once police confirmed it was safe to do so.
The council added: "Throughout this period, both schools followed the established lockdown guidelines and procedures. Staff acted swiftly and appropriately, with the safety and wellbeing of pupils and staff remaining the priority at all times."
"Anglesey County Council would like to thank pupils, parents, staff, and the wider school community for their cooperation and understanding. We are also grateful to North Wales Police for their prompt support and reassurance."
