The third season of House of the Dragon is set to generate around £6.7m for the Welsh economy.

Filming took place last summer at several key locations across Anglesey, Gwynedd and Conwy - including Beaumaris Pier, Craig Yr Undeb near Llanberis and Ffynnon Llugwy in Eryri.

The Welsh Government says funding ensured 22 trainee and job opportunities during production - including 12 entry level paid placements, five upskilling roles and six shadowing roles as part of the First Break scheme run by Sgil Cymru and Crew HQ.

Alongside training, the team on the ground also offered a Welsh language lesson for all crew members to learn basic phrases and held a location marshals bootcamp where local people signed up for future work.

Kevin De La Noy, executive producer, said: "(The) House of the Dragon Cast and Crew were delighted to return to Wales, to a landscape and locale that adds such visual power and vibrant dimension to the storytelling."

The last two seasons have receieved production funding from Creative Wales - including £674,600 for the upcoming season, which premieres on HBO Max in June and features Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke and Rhys Ifans among the returning cast.

Culture Minister, Jack Sargeant, said: "This production brings the beauty of North Wales to screens worldwide and further strengthens Wales’s reputation as a leading filming destination."

"Our investment supports local jobs, skills and training while delivering significant economic benefits for the region. We’re grateful to HBO for the opportunities created for people in North Wales, particularly those starting careers in TV and film."
