A fishing boat had a lucky escape in stormy weather conditions after it was spotted in difficulty off Trefor.
The Coastguard was alerted by a member of the public on Friday afternoon, after they spotted the vessel going round in circles off Trefor point.
After trying to contact the boat on radio several times without success, the RNLI sent out its Tamar class lifeboat from Porthdinllaen shortly after 3.40pm.
Despite gale-force northeasterly winds and rough seas, the lifeboat made the best possible scene but was stood down as it reached Trwyn y Gorlech, between Nant Gwrtheyrn and Trefor.
It turned out the fishing vessel had manage to make its own way safely to the shelter of Trefor harbour.
But upon its return to Porthdinllaen, the lifeboat found it difficult to return to its station because of the heavy swell off the slipway.
After several attempts, it was taken to Pwllheli marina, where after nearly five hours of battling rough seas, it was safely moored.
Owain Williams, coxswain at RNLI Porthdinllaen, said: "Massive thanks to all the crew and shore crew who turned up in far from ideal conditions. Our thanks as well to the staff at Pwllheli Marina who were able to allocate a berth for us overnight at such short notice."
