A young lurcher dog was rescued by a lifeboat crew after she became stranded just off Ynys Peibio.
The RNLI's D-class lifeboat from Holyhead was about to start a training session when it was called out to help 15 month-old Missy at just after 5.50pm on Wednesday evening.
She had been out on a walk with her owner when she spotted some birds and decided to chase though, even though the sea was in her way.
Despite being on her lead at the time, Missy managed to pull away and ran into the water before she could be stopped.
After realising she wasn't going to chase down the birds, she got herself onto rocks but became too scared to head back to her owner, who was wading out up to his knees.
He returned to shore and an onlooker alerted the Coastguard, who sent out the lifeboat and the Holyhead volunteer cliff rescue team.
The RNLI volunteers found Missy, who although reluctant at first, was lifted onto their lifeboat before a survival blanket was wrapped around her.
Because of the sea conditions, she was taken to the lifeboat station where she was reunited with her owner - and said to be "bemused but unphased" by the attention she got back at base.
Dave Roberts, senior helm at RNLI Holyhead, said: "We were very glad to help Missy and return her safe and sound. It was the right thing to do to call 999 and ask for help, and we thank the member of the public for doing exactly that."
"Although it’s tempting to try and rescue an animal yourself, we always recommend calling for help rather than putting yourself at risk. In this case, the owner realised he needed to get back to shore and keep himself safe, and we were able to come to the dog’s aid."
Missy and her owner returned home after warming up at the lifeboat station.
