A man questioned on suspicion of assault during a football match has been released on conditional bail.
North Wales Police says it is seeking advice on pressing charges following the incident during the Ardal North West fixture between Porthmadog and Trearddur Bay on Saturday afternoon.
They are also appealing for the person who filmed footage of the incident, which has been circulating on social media, to come forward.
On Sunday, Trearddur Bay FC announced it had released defender Tom Taylor with immediate effect following a brief suspension.
CPD Porthmadog said its main concern is with winger Danny Brookwell, who was treated on the pitch for concussion and is believed to be recovering at home.
District Inspector Iwan Jones from North Wales Police said: "I am aware of the video footage of this incident circulating online and thank members of the public for reporting it to us, we are working closely with the victim."
"We are now appealing for the individual who filmed the video to come forward so that an evidential statement can be obtained and formally included within the case file submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service."
"Additionally, I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident and hasn’t already spoken to police to come forward."
He added: "I would remind individuals that this is an active investigation and that sharing certain information, or speculating about guilt or innocence, can have legal consequences, including being held in contempt of court."
It's understood the FAW are now investigating the incident during the match, which Porthmadog won 3-2.
Referee Richard Gwyn Jones did not issue any red cards, although it's believed the alleged attacker was shown a yellow card.
Following an emergency meeting on Sunday, a spokesperson for Trearddur Bay FC said the club "does not condone violence in any form and acknowledges that the incident should not have occurred."
"The club offers its sincere apologies to the opposition player involved, CPD Porthmadog, match officials, supporters, and the wider football community."
"The club will fully cooperate with any external investigations or disciplinary processes and will make no further comment at this time while these matters are ongoing."
A spokesperson for Porthmadog FC said: "The club would like to express it's disappointment that this incident occurred at all and after studying the video evidence have come to the conclusion that if this happened anywhere other than on a football field would amount to common assault."
"The club's intention is to let the appropriate authorities deal with the matter and trust that the right steps will be taken and that we don't see such a horrific scene again."
North Wales Police are appealing for anyone with information to call 101 or visit their website, quoting reference no. 26000046180.
