A man who attacked his former partner during a row has been jailed for two years.
Iwan Lloyd, from Ganllwyd, near Dolgellau, pleaded guilty to the assault, which left his victim in hospital with a head injury.
Caernarfon Crown Court heard the pair had been arguing when Lloyd grabbed her by the throat and repeatedly hit her against the floor.
He also damaged a number of items around the house by throwing beer bottles around the house and smashing them against the walls.
Detective Constable Dominique Swift from North Wales Poice said: "Violence of any kind will not be tolerated, and we will pursue any reports of domestic abuse."
"My thoughts remain with the victim who bravely came forward following a frightening experience. I hope that she is able to move on knowing that he can no longer contact her."
Lloyd was banned from contacting his ex-partner under a ten year restraining order.
