Cllr Elin Walker Jones has been named as the new chair of Cyngor Gwynedd for the coming year.
The Plaid Cymru councillor, who represents the Glyder Bangor ward, was elected during the council's annual meeting on Thursday.
She succeeds Menai ward councillor Ioan Caredig Roberts in the role, having served as his deputy for the last 12 months.
Cllr Delyth Lloyd Griffiths, who represents Plaid in the Brithdir a Llanfachreth / Y Ganllwyd / Llanelltyd ward, will be her deputy.
Cllr Jones said: "It is a privilege and honour to be elected chair of Cyngor Gwynedd. I look forward to doing my best to serve and promote the work of the council and all the residents of Gwynedd in the coming year.”
Cllr Jones was first elected in 2011 and has served on a number of committees as well as the council's cabinet.
