A man arrested following the death of a teacher at Barmouth beach will face no further police action.
Ruhul Arnin Nana from Birmingham was pronounced dead by emergency services following an incident in the water last May.
Detectives questioned a 24 year-old man, also from Birmingham, on suspicion of murder.
North Wales Police said he has now been released with no further action after reviewing the evidence
Mr Nana's family have been informed and a report is being prepared for the North West Wales coroner.
Detective Superintendent Chris Bell said: “Following a comprehensive review of the evidence in this case, the police investigation into the man’s death has been closed. Our thoughts remain with his family."
“Once again, I would like to thank all members of the public who contacted us at the time to assist with our enquiries, which was incredibly helpful to our investigation.”
In June, an inquest in Caernarfon heard Mr Nana was found unresponsive in the sea and taken to the local lifeboat station, where he was pronounced dead by paramedics.
The 34 year-old, originally from the Indian city of Navsari, worked as a science teacher at The Broadway Academy in the Perry Barr area of Birmingham.
Following his death, Birmingham Perry Barr MP Ayoub Khan paid tribute, describing him as "an exceptional science teacher" who "made a lasting impact on so many young people through his dedication, kindness and passion."
The inquest is expected to resume at a later date.
