A renowned conservator of paintings will deliver this year's Sir Kyffin Williams Trust annual lecture.

Jenny Williamson will discuss the science and artistry behind painting conservation - and how it can reveal new stories behind artworks - at Oriel Môn in Llangefni on Friday evening.

She has worked extensively with Welsh collections throughout her career, including more than twenty years at the National Library of Wales in Aberystywth, and currently works as an independent consultant and part-time Conservation Officer at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea.

She has also lectured at Aberystwyth University and is a Fellow of the International Institute of Conservation.

Jenny said: “Conservation allows us to look beneath the surface of paintings and uncover the stories hidden within them, and I look forward to sharing some of these discoveries with the audience.”

In her lecture, Jenny will explore a case study of an oil painting attributed to Sir Peter Lely, where scientific investigation and art historical research helped uncover key facts about its origins.

She will also focus on the conservation of eight paintings by Sir Kyffin Williams, offering a rare insight into the artist’s materials, techniques and artistic development over time.
