A Pentraeth man threatened to burn his former partner after their abusive four-year relationship ended, a court has heard.

Jason Thomas was jailed after he admitted assault, coercive & controlling behaviour and harrassing his victim.

Mold Crown Court heard the 36 year-old put a tracking device in her car without her knowledge and went through her phone without permission as he tried to control his then-partner.

He also falsely accused her of having an affair and called her derogratory names such as "s**g'' and "w***e".

The relationship ended in June 2025, but two months later, Thomas punched his victim several times to the face and body causing painful bruising. She had blocked his phone number, be continued to contact her.

He later sent a photo of a petrol cannister and threatened to burn her. leaving her scared for her life.

On Friday, Thomas was sentenced to three years and four months in prison and banned from contacting his victim under a ten-year domestic abuse protection order (DAPO).

Detective Inspector Chris Burrow from North Wales Police said: “Thomas’s behaviour towards his ex-partner has had a devastating impact on her mental health and wellbeing."

“No one should ever feel unsafe in their home, especially at the hands of someone who chooses to use violence and fear."
