An RNLI crew is preparing to take on a demanding triathlon challenge to raise funds for their lifeboat station.

The Porthdinllaen-based volunteers will set off from their base next Saturday (12th September), startig with a 36-mile bike ride to Llanberis, before taking a nine-mile hike up and down Yr Wyddfa.

They'll travel another eight miles by bike before finishing with a gruelling 20 nautcial-mile row between Porth Dinorwic and Porthdinllaen, where they hope to arrive at around 5pm.

Eight local businesses have already signed up as sponsors and the RNLI is encouraging anyone wanting to support the team to donate.

They've already raised £570 as of Friday evening, on their way towards a £1,000 target.

Owain Williams, coxswain at RNLI Porthdinllaen, said: "We're looking forward to our annual challenge and would like to thank the eight local companies whose sponsorship has made this event possible."

"It would be fantastic to see supporters on the beach at Porthdinllaen as we arrive back on Saturday, hopefully having successfully completed the challenge."

If you want to donate, visit the Porthdinllaen RNLI team's JustGiving page.
