Efforts are continuing to find a teenage boy who was spotted entering the water at the Menai Strait

Emergency services, including police, fire and coastguard teams, spent the weekend looking for the 17 year-old since he was spotted at around 9.45am on Friday morning.

But despite an extensive search operation, he has so far not been found.

The teenager, who has not been named, was said to be wearing a purple hoodie and jeans at the time.

Police say specialist drone searches will be carried out throughout the week, supported by search officers and partner agencies when tide and weather conditions allow.

Chief Inspector Stephen Pawson from North Wales Police said: "My thoughts remain with the boy’s family at this incredibly difficult time."

“Our officers continue to provide support to them and are regularly updating them on our investigation."

“We thank the community for their ongoing support and continue to urge members of the public to report any potential sightings to us immediately."

“I understand that community members are eager to assist in the searches. I would urge volunteers to carefully consider the dangers of the coastline and changing weather conditions whilst searches are undertaken to ensure no one is put in harm’s way.”

Anyone with information about the teenager's disappearance - or any possible sightings - should contact North Wales Police immediately on 101, quoting reference no. 48138.
