A six year-old boy has died after he was hit by a vehicle in Llanfairfechan.
A 39 year-old man has been arrested following the collsion at shortly after 5pm on Thursday evening.
North Wales Police say the boy was pronounced dead at the scene "despite the best efforts of emergency services" and his family are being supported by specially trained liaison officers.
The man arrested is helping detectives with their inquiries.
A number of roads in and around Pen-Y-Bryn Road and Bryn Road were closed with police urging motorists to avoid the area for the time being.
Detective Inspector Tim Evans from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "Our thoughts are with the young boy's family and friends at this extremely difficult time."
"An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time, to contact us by calling 101, quoting reference O162122."
