Two kayakers and a crew member on a supply vessel were taken to hospital following a double shout for lifeboat crews from Moelfre.
The RNLI sent out its all-weather lifeboat, the Kiwi, at around 11.20am on Saturday morning to help a sick crew member from an offshore vessel just north of the Holyhead breakwater.
The casualty was evacuated using the pilot boarding ladder and given a first aid assessment before being taken to the pontoons inside Holyhead harbour.
The mobile coastguard team from Holyhead were on hand to help the sick crew member, who was taken by ambulance to hospital shortly after 12.35pm.
Shortly after returning from their initial shout at 2.10pm, the coastguard alerted the RNLI volunteers to reports of two kayakers in difficulty around a mile north of St David’s beach at Benllech.
The pair, who were wearing waterproof pouches, managed to call for help themselves.
The all-weather lifeboat returned to the water at just after 2.18pm and found one of the kayakers suffering from the cold and having a panic attack, after being in the water for around 20 minutes.
After being rescued from the sea, the lifeboat crew found she had ingested some seawater and an ambulance was called.
The second casualty was rescued and both kayaks recovered and continued to be monitored at the lifeboat station until an ambulance arrived to take them to hospital for further examination.
