A man who died following an incident near Barmouth beach has been named.
Ruhul Arnin Nana was pronounced dead by emergency services following an incident in the water on Bank Holiday Monday.
The 34 year-old worked as a science teacher at The Broadway Academy in the Perry Barr area of Birmingham.
A 24 year-old man, also from Birmingham, was questioned on suspicion of murder but later released on bail while assisting police with their enquiries.
The Gwynedd Coroner's Office says an inquest into Mr Nana's death is expected to be formally opened in Caernarfon on Thursday.
Paying tribute, Mr Nana was described by his local MP as "an exceptional science teacher".
Ayoub Khan, independent MP for Birmingham Perry Barr, said: "Mr Nana made a lasting impact on so many young people through his dedication, kindness and passion for teaching. He will be remembered fondly by students, colleagues and the wider community."
"My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, family, friends and everyone at Broadway School at this incredibly difficult time."
North Wales Police are still appealing for witnesses or anyone with footage of the incident to come forward.
Detective Superintendent Chris Bell said: "I would like to thank all members of the public who assisted the man on the beach on Monday, and to everybody who has contacted us since."

"I am continuing to urge anybody with who was at Barmouth beach on Monday 25 May and witnessed the incident, and hasn’t already spoken to police, to get in touch."
"I am also re-appealing to anybody who was on the beach between 2pm and 4pm who took any photos and videos to send them to us as soon as possible."
"We are interested in all photos or videos taken on any part of the beach during the afternoon. Any image could be relevant to our investigation."
