Two women have died following an incident at Nant Gwynant in Eryri.
Emergency services were called to the Watkin Path at just after 9.30pm on Wednesday night after one of the women had reportedly been pulled from the water at one of the pools.
A second woman, who was in the water at the time, was pulled out of the water, but police said both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Mountain rescue teams from Llanberis and Aberglaslyn were called to the scene, along with the Wales Air Ambulance, the Coastguard helicopter from Caernarfon and North Wales Police.
An investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths is underway.
DCI Andy Gibson from North Wales Police said: "Our thoughts and sympathies remain with the families and friends of both women."
"We are appealing for anyone who may have been walking in or around the Watkin Path area between 6pm and 9pm last night,"
"They are urged to contact North Wales Police via the website or by calling 101 quoting reference number 25000480868."
Jurgen Dinsmann, chair of the Llanberis mountain rescue team, said: "I extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the two women who sadly lost their lives."
"This was a complex and difficult callout for the team and we would like to thank our emergency service colleagues and Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team for their continued support and assistance during this callout.”
