Work will begin next month on a new active travel route between Malltraeth and Newborough,
Anglesey Council says the link for pedestrians and cyclists between the two villages is part of wider plans to deliver a traffic-free "green corridor" on the island.
The local authority is seeking to improve the Lôn Las Cefni route and eventually develop an island-wide Glasffordd Môn corridor to support local communities, landscapes and ecosystems.
Welsh Government funding has been secured for the scheme, which has been specially designed to meet the Wales Active Travel Act, which makes improvements to walking and cycling routes a priority.
Huw Percy, head of service highways at Anglesey Council, said: "This project is about addressing the current connection between the communities of Malltraeth and Niwbwrch."
"By creating a dedicated active travel route, we are providing residents with a safe, sustainable and accessible way to walk and cycle between the villages."
"This not only supports everyday journeys, but also strengthens social cohesion and promotes healthier, more sustainable travel choices."
The council says two public consultations held in 2022 and April last year, attracted strong support for the Glasffordd Môn 'vision' with residents and stakeholders endorsing safer and more accessible active travel links.
Apart from reconnecting the Cob at Malltraeth with Newborough, the project aims to improve residents to key destinations such as the village centre, Ysgol Santes Dwynwen and the nature reserve and forest.
Civil engeering firm Jones Bros has been appointed to lead the construction work, which will start on 1st September and continue into early next year.
Apart from the 1.25km path, stretching from Pen Cob car park to the edge of Newborough, traffic calming measures will be introduced along with a raised table within Newborough village to improve safety.
Four build-outs will be installed along The Cob to create safer viewing areas.
The council has also pledged to restore the habitat at Pwll Traeth Bach and monitor the area due to the route taking in special conservation areas and sites of specific scientific interest.
Natural Resources Wales (NRW) and the Glasffordd Môn Steering Group are both supporting the project.
Dylan Williams, NRW operations manager for North West Wales, added: "Extending the Lôn Las Cefni route, will improve connectivity to key services and destinations and deliver health and wellbeing benefits for both residents and visitors."
"The scheme has been designed to enhance the surrounding environment through habitat restoration and biodiversity improvements, ensuring the route helps people and nature thrive."
"This integrated approach will strengthen community access while promoting long-term ecological resilience."
Anglesey Council staff will also be holding a drop-in session on the active travel project at the Pritchard Institute on Thursday 4th September from 1-7pm. No appointment is needed.
