A new five-year plan has been launched to improve football facilities on Anglesey to help meet growing demand.
The FAW says it's been working with local authorities and the Cymru Football Foundation (CFF) on identifying local priorities for new and improved facilities across Wales.
Nationally, the plans prioritise 3G articifial and natural grass pitches, along with off-pitch and small-sided recreational facilities.
The local plan for Anglesey identifies both existing and potential sites for targeted investment such as the growth of women's and girls' football, future-proof and envrionmenally sustainable facilities and improving experiences for players, volunteers and fans.
Aled Lewis, CFF director, said: "Together with the Football Association of Wales, we're committed to delivering high-quality facilities to communities that need them most."
"These plans will shape future conversations and partnerships with football clubs, leagues, area associations and local authorities to successfully implement and deliver priority facility projects and we're looking forward to working together to invest into facilities that will have a positive impact."
Overall, the number of registered players has increased by 21% since the CFF was launched in 2022 - with those taking part in women's and girls' football increasing by nearly half (47%), a 36% increase in youth players and more than double the number of players with a disability (114%).
An extensive consultation process saw more than 50% of grassroots clubs across Wales provide feedback, representing around 70% of all registered players.
The Anglesey plan will seek to prioritise areas of greatest need as well as maximising partnership funding opportunities to accelerate delivery.
Cllr Alun Roberts, who holds the leisure portfolio at Anglesey Council, added: "Football plays an important role in our communities, and this plan provides a clear, long-term vision to ensure our facilities can meet growing demand and support participation at all levels."
"It is particularly encouraging to see the focus on increasing opportunities for women and girls, improving accessibility, and creating more sustainable, high-quality facilities for future generations."
"We look forward to continuing to work with the Cymru Football Foundation, the Football Association of Wales and local partners to deliver these priorities for the benefit of our residents."
