Job Description: Volunteer and Community Development Coordinator
Location: Llangefni, Isle of Anglesey (with flexibility for some remote work)
Contract: Fixed-term – 14 months (subject to funding)
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Based on National Living Wage (total subject to funding)
Responsible to: Steering Group (Line Manager: Chairman)

Purpose of the Role
MônFM is seeking a dedicated and organised individual to lead volunteer coordination, community engagement and sustainability development at the station. The Volunteer and Community Development Coordinator will recruit, train and support volunteers, strengthen relationships with local organisations, and develop partnerships and income opportunities to help secure MônFM’s long-term future. This is a key role in ensuring MônFM continues to grow as a bilingual, community-led broadcaster.
Key Responsibilities
1. Volunteer Development
• Recruit, induct and support new and existing volunteers.
• Deliver regular training sessions in broadcasting, technical, and creative skills.
• Develop structured volunteer progression and mentoring opportunities.
• Maintain volunteer records, rotas and communication systems.
• Encourage an inclusive, bilingual volunteer environment.
2. Community Engagement
• Build partnerships with schools, charities, community groups and local businesses.
• Represent MônFM at community events and meetings.
• Promote volunteering and station activities through bilingual communication.
• Support outreach projects that give more people the chance to take part in radio and media.
3. Sustainability and Income Development
• Work with the Board to develop MônFM’s long-term sustainability plan.
• Identify new funding and sponsorship opportunities.
• Assist with preparing small grant applications and fundraising activities.
• Contribute to monitoring and evaluation reports for funders and stakeholders.
4. Administration and Coordination
• Ensure compliance with station policies (safeguarding, data protection, health and safety).
• Support communication between volunteers, staff and the Board.
• Produce regular progress reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
Expected Outcomes
By the end of the 14-month period, the postholder will have:
• Increased the number and diversity of active volunteers.
• Improved volunteer retention and training opportunities.
• Strengthened community partnerships and outreach activity.
• Secured at least one new funding or sponsorship opportunity.
• Helped embed sustainable systems for volunteer and project management.
Person Specification
Essential
• Experience in volunteer management, community engagement or training.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work with people from a range of backgrounds.
• Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
• Understanding of community media or local non-profit work.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Desirable
• Experience in community radio or the voluntary sector.
• Knowledge of MonFM’s local community networks.
• Fundraising, sponsorship or partnership experience.
• Understanding of bilingual (Welsh/English) community work.
• Welsh language skills (spoken or written).
