Ahead of the Senedd elections on May 7th, MônFM will broadcast a special programme featuring key figures from the six main political parties in Wales.
The 90-minute programme will feature one-to-one interviews with leaders and senior representatives, each discussing their party's priorities for the next Senedd term and covering a range of issues such as the NHS, the cost of living, housing, transport and small busineses.
Taking part in the programme are:
- Anthony Slaughter, leader of the Wales Green Party
- Cadan ap Tomos, Welsh Liberal Democrats candidate - Caerdydd Penarth
- Dan Thomas, leader of Reform UK Wales
- Darren Millar, leader of the Welsh Conservative Party
- Delyth Jewell, deputy leader of Plaid Cymru
- Huw Irranca Davies, deputy leader of Welsh Labour
The special programme has been produced for the Wales Community Radio Network (WCRN) by Bro Radio, based in the Vale of Glamorgan.
MônFM will also be producing its own local results coverage, focusing on the Bangor Conwy Môn and Gwynedd Maldwyn constituencies, on Friday May 8th.
Presenter Nathan Spackman, chair of WCRN, said: “We know that not every station is in a position to be able to create their own election programmes, but each understands the important role community madio plays in helping local people engage with the democratic process.”
“I’m pleased that the main parties have engaged positively with this programme and with our election manifesto. We hope to be able to continue to engage with parties post-election, to secure stronger support and financial investment into community radio right across Wales.”
The special programme, designed to provide an accessible and informative guide to the political landscape, comes off the back of an election manifesto released by WCRN, which represents community radio across Wales.
The body is calling on a future Welsh Government to provide additional support to the sector, including further public investment, recognition as an entry point for journalism in Wales and the distribution of all Government advertising for stations.
Senedd 2026 can be heard on MônFM on Saturday morning (2nd May) at 11am on FM, online and via the free MônFM app.
The programme is also available to download as a podcast or via the Listen Again service on the MônFM website.
