A man and his dog were rescued by lifeboat crews after a yacht ran aground near Beaumaris.
The RNLI said two lifeboats from Beaumaris and Moelfre were called out shortly after 3.55pm on Monday afternoon, following reports from the Coastguard of a craft sinking off Bangor Pier.
The Coastguard helicopter from Caernarfon was also tasked to help the vessel, which was found to have run aground on the rocks by Gallows Point.
Both the helicopter and the Moelfre lifeboat were stood down while the occupants were taken back to Beaumaris Pier, where they were met by coastguards from Bangor.
But because of the damage to the stricken yacht, the Beaumaris lifeboat decided it was not practical or safe to try and tow it off the rocks.
The boat was eventually recovered by a salvage team.
A spokesperson for Beaumaris RNLI said: "Unfortunately, in this instance, it was not possible to save the craft however the lifeboat was able to ensure the safety of the occupants."
