Duffy will speak out for the first time about her kidnap - and her withdrawal from music - in a new Disney+ documentary later this year.
The multi-award winning singer, originally from Nefyn, topped the charts in 2008 with her debut album Rockerry and its lead single Mercy.
She retreated from the public eye two years later, and then in 2020, revealed that she had been drugged a decade earlier, before being kidnapped and taken to another country, where she was sexually abused.
At the time, Duffy - real name Aimee Anne Duffy - posted on Instagram: "The truth is, and please trust me I am OK and safe now, I was raped and drugged and held captive over some days. Of course I survived."
"The recovery took time. There's no light way to say it. But I can tell you in the last decade, the thousands and thousands of days I committed to wanting to feel the sunshine in my heart again, the sun does now shine."
The documentary, co-produced by Rare TV and Stellify Media, will feature "new, unprecedented access" to the singer, along with interviews with her family, friends and music industry colleagues.
Director Gill Callan said: “Duffy’s life has been shaped by success and fame, but equally by pain, defiance, and an irrepressible sense of self."
"I’m drawn to the tension between vulnerability and confidence in her story and how a person can be deeply affected by their experiences, yet still find a powerful, expressive voice that is unmistakably hers.”
The new documentary, entitled 'Duffy', was announced on Wednesday at the Series Mania TV festival in Lille, France.
Sean Doyle, vice president of unscripted content at Disney+, added: "Fifteen years ago, Duffy was one of the most famous singers in the world. Her voice was distinctly recognisable and powerful."
"“Mercy” and “Warwick Avenue” from her debut album led to three Brit Awards, a Grammy and Duffy being at the peak of her career. And then she disappeared. This film will give Duffy the chance to tell her story in her own words."
