A Gwynedd man who violently raped a woman multiple times has been jailed for 17 years.
Thomas Cato was convicted on five counts of rape over a two-year period following a trial at Mold Crown Court last month.
North Wales Police said the 37 year-old, of no fixed abode, was a "danger to women" who had shown "no remorse".
The court heard the victim had been left petrified and with visible injuries after she was hit to the head by Cato.
On one occasion, he broke her ribs, leaving her unable to move because of the pain.
Cato will serve 15 years in prison and an extended period of two years on licence - he was also banned from contacting his victim for life under a restraining order and must register as a sex offender indefinitely.
Detective Constable Bethany Clarke of North Wales Police said: "Thomas Cato has proven himself to be a danger to women by showing no remorse and forcing the woman to re-live her suffering through a trial."
"His horrific actions have been devastating, leaving her feeling isolated and unable to trust easily."
"She has experienced a trauma that no one should ever face, and she has shown extraordinary bravery in coming forward."
"She has no doubt protected other women from further harm, and I hope this outcome provides some measure of reassurance and closure, as she continues her recovery."
"Protecting women and girls from violence continues to be a priority for North Wales Police. I would urge anyone who has been a victim of rape to come forward. We will listen support you and fully investigate offences."
