Caernarfon Town began their Welsh Cup defence with a 3-1 win over Flint Town United in the second round.

The highly-anticipated replay of last season's final saw the holders go behind after just five minutes when Tunde Owolabi struck from close range past keeper Connor Roberts.

But the Cofis quickly replied just two minutes later with a bullet header from Harry Charsley, scoring his first goal for the club.

The ex-Mansfield and Newport County midfielder turned provider when he flicked on Adrian Cieślewicz's cross before Zack Clarke bundled the ball in to give Caernarfon the lead on 66 minutes.

Seven minutes later, Sion Bradley secured their place in the third round draw when he beat Flint keeper Jack Flint from the penalty spot.

Y Felinheli made history by reaching the third round for the first time after a 3-2 victory at nine-man Cefn Albion.

Alwyn Roberts and Ianto ap Rhun put the Ardal North West club 2-0 up inside 15 minutes with Joni Sadler adding a third before the hour mark.

Albion hit back with two gaols from Kien Morris only for Kos Jones and Dion Jobbins to be sent off for the hosts, along with assistant manager Iain Bennett.

Holyhead Hotspur are also through after edging out Cymru North rivals Bala Town 4-3 at Maes Tegid.

Tom Kelly struck first for the Lakesiders on eight minutes before Jamie Jones drew level eight minutes later.

The visitors raced into a 4-1 lead via a Connor Owen brace (48', 63') and a Codi Holland strike before Bala pegged back two goals from Nathan Burke (74') and John Owen (90+3').

Dolgellau AA fought back to beat Penycae 4-1 with two goals for Gerwyn Williams, one from Aaron Young and a Ben Buley own goal, after the hosts took an early lead via Issac Dawson.

Llangefni Town's run ended with a 2-0 defeat at Brickfield Rangers with Dennis Bates and substitute Lewis Wynne scoring for the Cymru North league leaders.

Llangefni manager Sion Eifion Jones told MônFM Sport he was content with the performance despite a 'frustrating' afternoon: "It's fine margins, especially when you're playing a team of this level."

"We've come here with a game plan and we've stuck to it and the boys have done really well - so there's a lot of positives to take into next week."

Friday night's action saw Bangor City progress with a 2-0 win at Denbigh Town thanks to first-half goals from Declan McManus and Corrig McGonigle, while Nathan Brown missed a late penalty for the hosts at Central Park.

Cymru North club Porthmadog's hopes of an early upset were thwarted as Max Woodcock, Iwan Murray, Alex Hughes and Hussein Mehasseb guided Connah's Quay Nomads to a 4-0 victory.
