A senior North Wales Police detective is facing a prison sentence after she was convicted of unauthorised access to records.
DI Emma Gardner denied illegally accessing the force's computer systems without a policing purpose to look at records involving a friend and three women 47 times between January and September 2022.
Gardner, a former uniform sergeant based at Caernarfon and Bangor police stations, was found guilty of causing a computer to perform a function to secure unauthorised access to data.
She was released on bail at Caernarfon Crown Court ahead of sentencing in early September.
North Wales Police said Gardner, who was suspended during the case, will now face misconduct proceedings.
Following the verdict on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Constable Nigel Harrison said: “We acknowledge the decision of the jury."
“The officer has been suspended whilst the criminal case was ongoing, and we will now progress with misconduct proceedings following today’s verdict.”
