A Llanddona man who elbowed an opponent during a league match has been banned from playing football for five years.
Thomas Taylor pleaded guilty to assaulting Danny Brookwell while he was playing for Trearddur Bay during an Ardal North West fixture at Porthmadog in January.
Last month, the 36 year-old was given a suspended prison sentence and ordered to pay £439 in compensation and costs.
Taylor was released by Trearddur Bay FC the day after the incident and subsequently given an indefinite ban from all football-related activity by the FAW.
In a statement, the governing body said a disciplinary panel decided a charge of violent conduct against the ex-defender was proven.
An FAW spokesperson said: "As a result, Thomas Taylor is subject to a Sine Die suspension from all football related activity with no review to be considered under a period of five years."
The ban is backdated to 22nd January - five days after the assault - and the panel decided Taylor should be fined and ordered to pay costs.
The defence alleged Mr Brookwell had made comments to Taylor during the match, threatening to break his legs - but in mitigation, Taylor's lawyer said the threat did not justify the behaviour that followed and he accepted that the conduct was "inexcusable".
Taylor has until Friday afternoon to lodge an appeal against his FAW ban.
