An injured sailor was rescued after their small motorboat broke down near Holyhead Breakwater.
The RNLI's inshore lifeboat at Holyhead was carrying out a routine training exercise when it was called out at around 2pm on Wednesday afternoon.
The broken down motorboat had suffered engine problems between the breakwater and North Stack and was unable to make headway.
The sailor had told HM Coastguard he had sustained a head injury earlier in the day - but was unsure as to how - and he was not wearing a lifejacket at the time.
He was advised to wear one as soon as possible, before two crew members got on board his boat for an assessment and casualty care.
The broken down vessel was then towed back safely to a mooring at Holyhead marina, before the injured sailor received more treatment from the local volunteer cliff rescue team and two shore-based crew members from Holyhead lifeboat station.
He was later taken to hospital for a further assessment.
Mark Wade, coxswain at Holyhead RNLI, said: "Well done to all the crew who were able to divert while out on exercise to help this man, who needed our help."
"Thanks also to the excellent cliff rescue volunteers who were able to meet our crew and take over the man’s care back at shore. We wish the casualty well."
"This situation shows how even in calm conditions, things can still happen, and it’s important to be prepared by wearing a suitable lifejacket and carrying a means of calling for help."
