A man who assaulted his former partner in her home has been jailed.
Leon Thomas admitted assault and criminal damage following a disturbance in the early hours of Monday morning.
The 34 year-old from Llan Ffestiniog was sentenced in court less than 36 hours after he was arrested in Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Caernarfon magistrates heard Thomas had turned violent after been asked by his ex-partner to leave her home.
He repeatedly punched her in the face and damaged her property. After she managed to get him out of the house, he returned and tried to re-enter by kicking her front and back door.
Police arrived at the address and tracked down Thomas nearby, where he was arrested.
He pleaded guilty to both charges of criminal damage and assault causing physical harm and was sentenced to 35 weeks in prison.
Detective Constable Annie Britton from North Wales Police said: "Thomas has proved he is a danger to women, having previously committed acts of domestic violence."
"The victim’s brave actions to remove him for her home should be commended, I hope she feels reassured by the swift actions which have led to this sentence."
"We remain fully committed to protecting victims of domestic violence and bringing perpetrators to justice. Anyone experiencing abuse is urged to contact us – we will listen, we will support you and will fully investigate."
Thomas was also banned from approaching his victim under a three-year Domestic Abuse Protection Order (DAPO).
