After more than a century, a family-run butchers in Bodedern will close for the last time on Saturday.

E.T  Jones, also known as Lamia, on Church Street announced on social media earlier this month it would shut after 108 years.

Ifan Jones, who has run the shop for the last 51 years, said he is retiring to focus on his health and wellbeing after "much thought and consideration".

Since opening at the site of a former pub in 1918, the butchers has been overseen by four generations of his family and won a clutch of awards for the quality of their produce.

In 2008, it was named as the Countryside Alliance's traditional business of the year in Wales.

Mr Jones said the family had not just built a business, but also "friendships, relationships and memories that we will carry with us long after the doors close".

Announcing the closure, he said: "This is not a decision that has been made lightly, but after much thought and consideration, after 51 years in the business, the time has come for me to retire and focus on my health and wellbeing."

"I would like to give a very special thank you to my two sons, Iwan and Bryn, who have remained loyal, dedicated, and true to their word, standing by my side every step of the way until I was ready to retire."

"Their support over the years has meant more to me than I could ever put into words, and I couldn't have done it without them."

"I must also mention my wife, Wendy, who has stepped in everywhere, spun all the plates behind the scenes and somehow kept everything and everyone going. Our very own wonder woman, and without her, we would have closed our doors years ago."

"Following the health scare she faced earlier this year, it has put so much into perspective for us as a family and reminded us that health, family and time together must come first."

"To all our staff, past and present, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We simply couldn't have done it without you, and we will always be grateful for the part you played in our journey."

"And finally, to every single one of our customers, old and new, thank you for your incredible support over the years. Without your loyalty and custom, we would never have made it this far."

"You have been at the heart of everything we do, and we are deeply grateful for every visit, every conversation and every opportunity to serve you."

Mr Jones concluded: "This is an incredibly emotional moment for our family, and as we close this chapter, we do so with sadness, but also with tremendous appreciation for everyone who has been part of our story."

"Thank you for supporting our business, but more importantly, thank you for supporting our family."
